Purpose |To staff an indeterminate position and to establish a pool of qualified candidates that may be used to staff future determinate or indeterminate vacancies for this position or for other similar positions.
Summary of Duties | Under the general supervision of the Supervisor, Asset Management and Logistics, the incumbent is responsible for all operational functions in the asset management life cycle as well as for providing support and back-up to the administration and maintenance of materiel management systems.
The incumbent performs various inventory functions, both ongoing and by request, including verification, transfer of assets, physical inventory, tracking and location transfers; takes stock of new appointments and departures; follows up on day-to-day asset management issues and recommends solutions; prepares activity and discrepancy reports and performs asset management functions related to special projects. The incumbent acts as back up for the Supervisor, Asset Management and Logistics.

Successful completion of secondary school education and an acceptable on-the job training and experience related to the position.
*Experience in carrying out the full life cycle process related to the material management-related activities (i.e. monitoring the recording of assets of accuracy and compliance, producing reports on asset holdings, receiving, inventory, storage, custody, protection, disposal, distribution and shipping).
*Experience in providing advice and assistance in the interpretation and application of asset management policies and procedures related to materiel management.
Experience in working with inventory tracking software (i.e. AMMIS, SAP, …).
Experience in processing and tracking data to prepare reports and/or summary findings for upper management.
*This is defined as a minimum of two (2) years experience.
Post-secondary diploma in Business administration or diploma/certification in Supply Chain management
Experience using bar-code readers
Experience using Automated Materiel Management Information System
Experience using GCSurplus, the federal government org responsible for the sales of surplus federal goods
Experience with supervising staff

Candidates must meet the conditions of employment at the appointment phase and for the duration of their employment in this position.

The position requires the incumbent to lift, push or move equipment and stand for long periods. Candidates must meet the physical requirements of the position to be considered qualified.

Candidate must be willing and able to work overtime when necessary.
Candidates must be willing to travel and carry all necessary equipment such as laptop/portable scanner device from the office located in Gatineau (Hull Sector) to the location where business will be conducted (Senate office buildings in Ottawa) and back.
